A former UFC fighter recently gave his take on Khamzat Chimaev's chances against Dricus du Plessis in a potential fight. The individual claimed that although du Plessis may find Chimaev to be a challenging opponent, the unbeaten contender may encounter some difficulties because of his strategy.
Dricus du Plessis isn't shying away from facing Chimaev as the two are poised to meet each other inside the octagon in the future if the reigning champion prevails in his next title defense against Sean Strickland at UFC 312.
Luke Rockhold, a former middleweight champion who has trained with both du Plessis and Chimaev and has a good deal of understanding about their fighting techniques. In a recent interview with Submission Radio, Rockhold shared his opinion on a potential fight between 'Borz' and du Plessis.

''I think Khamzat is a very tough match up for him [du Plessis], interesting to see how a fight like that would play out. How much is that, more of a boxing match or a grappling match? Does Khamzat really just stick to his guns and just go for the kill...he's [Chimaev] just going to go down that wrestling, grappling avenue until he wins or loses.''
Rockhold added:
''It's just go for broke kind of mentality was what I see from Khamzat...he'll go, go, go, go, go for one thing and if he doesn't get it...he runs into a problem where he kind of hits a wall. I don't know if you can play that game with DDP.''

Luke Rockhold denies getting submitted by Khamzat Chimaev in a grappling session
A video of Khamzat Chimaev and Luke Rockhold grappling was previously uploaded to MMA UK's YouTube channel. Although it looked like Chimaev submitted Rockhold in the video, the former UFC fighter claims it didn't happen.
In a recent interview with Helen Yee, Rockhold claimed that the footage was purposefully altered to hype up Chimaev, saying:
''He ended up going with me and he pulled guard and went for leg locks. I expected him to wrestle with me but they edited it to make it look like I submitted. He didn't get me with anything...He gave up on the armbar and that was it. It wasn't exactly the cleanest edit. People should edit things right."
