Mario Bautista secured a career-defining victory over former featherweight champion Jose Aldo at UFC 307 via split decision. While the bout had its moments, much of the action was lackluster, with Bautista relying on clinching Aldo against the cage during the third round to control the fight.
Following the win, Bautista faced severe backlash, with fans divided over his performance. In an exclusive interview with Sportskeeda MMA, Bautista opened up about the criticism, saying:
"It ranges you know from you lost me money. It gets pretty bad bro I'm not going to lie. Like there are some fans like quite a bit that “oh you should just off yourself you need to go kill yourself” this and that. They get pretty crazy so it ranges. From that to, you know, congratulations I thought you did a great job like you won that fight, don't listen to these guys. So from there to that everything in between."

Dana White weighs in on the controversy surrounding Mario Bautista and Jose Aldo's fight
UFC CEO Dana White has responded to the controversy surrounding the Mario Bautista vs. Jose Aldo fight, where Bautista faced criticism for allegedly stalling the match. Among the critics was former UFC champion Conor McGregor, who took to social media to accuse Bautista of deliberately slowing the fight.
White addressed the concerns, agreeing with the need for stricter referee intervention in such situations:
"I always think that the referees should be more active on that, 100 percent, especially when somebody keeps doing it to stall... When you can tell that the guy definitely doesn’t want to stand and strike and just wants to stall against the fence, yes, the refs, that’s their job. When they see it continually happening and that the guy is not trying to win the fight, then you keep breaking them up.”
