UFC featherweight contender Rob Font is on a two-fight skid which has put him at a crucial juncture in his career.
To add salt to his own injuries, Font also missed weight by 2.5 lbs for his last outing against Marlon Vera in April 2022. The New England Cartel representative recently disclosed the details behind his botched weight cut in an exclusive interview with Sportskeeda MMA.

Following his loss against Aldo, Font received an invitation from his aunt in the Bahamas, which is a food lover's paradise. The UFC featherweight contender was admittedly a little "naughty" during his time there. While he had concerns about making weight, the temptation to bounce back from a loss was too much for Font when he received a call for the fight with Vera. The 35-year-old told James Lynch:
"After the [Jose] Aldo fight, we took some time off. And then my aunt invited us to the Bahamas and it was like [lot of good food]... You know obviously you're coming off a loss, wanting to get back in there to revenge that loss. We get I call, you know I was a naughty boy at the moment, I was a little heavy. We thought we could do it, we came kind of close...It was collectively, we thought we should take the fight. We knew that it was kind of risky as far as the weight cut and that's what happened."

Font also noted that only three weeks of civilian life was enough to get him bloated to the point where his fight camp was majorly focused on cutting weight. The New England Cartel's own makes a return to the octagon against Adrian Yanez at UFC 287 on April 8.
Rob Font makes his pick for the UFC 288 bantamweight title fight between Aljamain Sterling and Henry Cejudo
Aljamain Sterling defeated a compromised T.J. Dillashaw at UFC 280 in October 2022, defending his bantamweight title for the second time. While Sean O'Malley defeated former champ and No.1 contender Petr Yan on the same card, Dana White surprisingly brought up Henry Cejudo's name in the post-fight presser. After going back and forth on social media, both parties confirmed the matchup earlier this year, and it was eventually announced for UFC 288 in May.
Rob Font is excited for the UFC 288 pre-fight press conference, where he expects 'Funk Master' and 'Triple C' to really sell the fight. The 35-year-old also predicted that Sterling will successfully defend his title for a third time. He further told Sportskeeda:
"It's a fun fight. I'm excited for the press conference. I think they're gonna sell the hell out of that fight. And I'm going with the champ on this one."
