Top ONE bantamweight contender Fabricio Andrade was perhaps seconds away from securing a world championship at ONE on Prime Video 3. However, an unintentional knee to the groin of his opponent halted his title hopes for the time being.
'Wonder Boy' recently admitted to a mistake that caused his downfall against John Lineker. In an interview with SCMP MMA, Andrade said:
“I put a lot of pressure on myself. I don’t need anybody to do that for me because I already put a lot of pressure on myself. A lot of people doubted that I can beat him. There was a lot of pressure and I wanted to finish him in the first round. I wanted to finish him easy.”
The 25-year-old displayed his immense talent in his first world title opportunity. Despite the anticlimactic conclusion, Andrade awed audiences around the globe with his striking prowess at ONE on Prime Video 3.

Fabricio Andrade possesses a champion's mindset
Few athletes have been more impressive than Andrade since he joined ONE in 2020. The Brazilian is a perfect 5-0 with one no-contest, including first-round stoppages over Li Kai Wen, Jeremy Pacatiw, and Kwon Won Il.
Prior to his title fight, Andrade told Andrew Whitelaw of Asian MMA what separates him from other fighters:
"I work really, really hard. I live for this. My life is about being the best version of myself. So everything I do, I wake up to go train, I eat what I think is going to make me recover better, to have better muscles. After training, when I'm tired, I'm going to do some ice baths. So everything I do is related to fighting and training to get better."
Fabricio Andrade moved up to No.1 in ONE's bantamweight rankings following his near-flawless performance against former champion John Lineker.
'Wonder Boy' is one of the globe's hottest young prospects – cementing that notion with each outing. Expect big things from Andrade as he continues his quest for gold.
Be sure to check back for an announcement pertaining to Andrade's next fight, as it will certainly be for the vacant bantamweight world championship once again.
