Fabricio Andrade believes former bantamweight king John Lineker has more to worry about in their upcoming rematch for the vacant ONE bantamweight world title later this month.
‘Wonder Boy’ said that apart from needing to sharpen his game plan, ‘Hands of Stone’ Lineker has the added pressure of watching his weight. That's after he failed to stay within the allowed level last time around, which led to his world title being stripped from him.
Andrade believes it could take a toll on Lineker if he does not handle it correctly, as he told ONE Championship:
“[Lineker] will definitely be more attentive with this weight issue. Nobody likes to be on time and not make weight. No one wants to look unprofessional. So, I believe he will be aware of his weight so that it doesn’t happen again.”

In their first encounter for the gold last October, Lineker was stripped of the ONE bantamweight world title and deprived himself of the opportunity to reclaim it even in the event of a victory.
Making matters worse, he got a beat down from Fabricio Andrade before the fight was ruled a no contest after Lineker was unable to continue late in the third round when he was struck with an accidental knee in the groin.
Fabricio Andrade, though, said he is every bit ready for Lineker in their rematch. The bout is set to go down on February 24 at ONE Fight Night 7 on Prime Video at the historic Lumpinee Boxing Stadium in Bangkok.
'Wonder Boy' is bent on completing unfinished business and taking his place as the king of the 145-pound weight division. ONE Fight Night 7 will be aired live and for free to all Prime Video subscribers in North America.
Fabricio Andrade believes John Lineker will come better prepared for the rematch
Fabricio Andrade expects John Lineker to put up a better fight in their rematch for the vacant ONE bantamweight world title later this month. However, he still expects his hand to be raised in victory in the end.
‘Wonder Boy’ seeks to deliver on unfinished business in his redo match with ‘Hands of Stone’ on February 24 at ONE Fight Night 7 on Prime Video after their first encounter last October ended in a no contest. The ruling came when Lineker was unable to continue after being hit with an accidental strike in the groin midway into the contest.
Despite the sorry ending, Fabricio Andrade had a dominant showing, pummeling and puzzling Lineker with his activity and distance game.
He sees Lineker coming in more prepared for the rematch, but Andrade is making sure that he is more than up for it.
'Wonder Boy' shared to ONE Championship in an interview:
“He will definitely prepare more now that he knows how good I am. But I believe this will not make a difference.”
Fabricio Andrade has been very impressive since entering the promotion in 2020, winning his first five fights before the no contest outcome last time around.
