When Fabricio Andrade meets John Lineker for the ONE bantamweight world championship on Friday night, he will not enter the familiar confines of the circle.
Emanating from the iconic Lumpinee Boxing Stadium in Bangkok, the superstars of ONE Championship will compete inside a ring rather than a cage. While it may represent a big change for fans visually, Fabricio Andrade doesn’t believe the difference in fighting structure will have any effect on his performance this Friday night.
“No change at all, Andrade revealed in a pre-event interview. “My debut was in the ring in 2020. Now I'm fighting like two-three years later in a ring again for the belt. It doesn't change anything. I'm just so happy to be able to be fighting in Thailand. This is my second home. All my friends and supporters are going to be there. So I'm just excited.”
Though Fabricio Andrade calls Brazil his home, Thailand has operated as his home away from home for the last five years. Training and living in the beautiful Southeast Asian country, ‘Wonder Boy’ will have something of a home-field advantage when he steps into the legendary venue this Friday night for the ONE on Fight Night 7 main event.

Fabricio Andrade hopes to fight in Brazil for ONE Championship
While Fabricio Andrade is undeniably excited to fight in front of a raucous crowd in Bangkok this weekend at ONE Fight Night 7, ‘Wonder Boy’ is ready to see ONE Championship take their show to Brazil this year. ONE is expected to make its South American debut sooner rather than later, but no official word has been given on a potential date or location.
Speaking with The MMA Superfan, Andrade shared his excitement over the possibility of a ONE card going down in his native country and expressed a strong interest in being part of the festivities when it happens.
“I just want to be on the card. It doesn't really matter who my opponent is. I just want to be on the card and be a good fighter in my home.”
For now, Andrade will be content knowing that his countrymen can watch him potentially capture a ONE world championship live on Combate thanks to the promotion’s groundbreaking broadcast deal with Globo, the largest commercial TV network in Latin America and the second-largest commercial TV network in the world.
“All these stuff I think is just meant to be and this rematch now will be live in the whole country of Brazil on Combate in the biggest TV channel in Brazil so everything turned out in the best way possible.”
