Fabricio Andrade’s blood-fueled feud against John Lineker over the ONE bantamweight MMA throne

ONE Championship’s bantamweight MMA division has been a battleground of grueling encounters. No matchup has stirred the pot more than the heated rivalry between Fabricio Andrade and John Lineker.

Before both men head in separate directions early next year, the promotion revisited their two thrilling bouts, each of which had fans on the edge of their seats.

The competition between Andrade and Lineker reached its peak during their first meeting in October 2022.

What was expected to be a defining moment for Andrade took an unfortunate turn.

‘Wonder Boy’ dominated much of the initial clash, but disaster struck in the third round when an accidental knee to Lineker’s groin left him unable to continue. The referee called the fight to a halt, declaring a no-contest.

With their first salvo ending on a sour note, Andrade was determined to author a decisive victory in their rematch four months later.

However, Lineker made sure that it was no walk in the park for his Brazilian compatriot.

‘Hands of Stone’ pressed forward with boxing combinations and utilized his underrated wrestling game to land takedowns against Andrade’s will.

Unfortunately for Lineker, Andrade managed to get hold of his groove as he started to fire off sharp jabs and unleash devastating knees to the body.

Andrade continued to dominate with punishing strikes, leaving Lineker battered and bloodied.

The damage proved too much for Lineker to withstand, leaving his corner with no other choice but to save him from further punishment before the fifth round.

As a result, this led to the coronation of Andrade as the new ONE bantamweight MMA world champion.

Fabricio Andrade, John Lineker booked in separate bouts this January

Fabricio Andrade and John Lineker will take on fresh challenges to kick off their 2025 campaigns.

Andrade is set to defend his bantamweight MMA crown against Kwon Won Il in a rematch at ONE 170 on Jan. 24, 2025, at Impact Arena.

Meanwhile, Lineker aims to extend his unbeaten Muay Thai streak when he faces Kulabdam Sor Jor Piek Uthai in a bantamweight showdown at ONE Fight Night 27 on Jan. 10 at the historic Lumpinee Stadium.
