No.1-ranked bantamweight contender Fabricio Andrade recently shared his favorite memory of 2022, which surprisingly has nothing to do with John Lineker.
Prior to being in the spotlight, Andrade was just a young kid with big aspirations to become a Brazilian world champion. Motivated by a strong will to succeed and to change his life, Fabricio Andrade left the promotional scene in Fortaleza, Brazil, to seek bigger opportunities to train and compete in Asia.
After garnering a professional record of 40 wins and 3 losses in kickboxing and Muay Thai, he joined the prestigious Tiger Muay Thai gym in 2018 and made the transition to MMA. And as the saying goes, the rest is history.
Looking back at his banner year in 2022 where he figured in three exciting matches, ‘Wonder Boy’ shared his favorite memory with ONE Championship:

“By far, my favorite memory was when I knocked out the #2-ranked fighter and won the $50,000 bonus. It was a very important moment in my life, as things started to improve a lot financially, and consequently, everything started to get better in my life. As an athlete, I was able to invest more in my career, and that was a very important step for me. So, that was the best memory I had this year, and I hope it will be repeated more often.”
For a long time, Fabricio Andrade was arguably the most underrated athlete on the roster. Even after making quick work of seasoned MMA fighter Mark Abelardo in his promotional debut, not many fans thought he would rise so quickly. After all, he was just 20 years old.
Andrade would eventually flip the script on the old narrative by delivering powerful TKO performances after another.
After claiming a unanimous decision victory over Shoko Sato in his second fight, he won his next three fights via knockout in the first round, including his bonus-winning performance.
It was enough to vault him into a world title opportunity at ONE on Prime Video 3. Despite a disappointing turn of events, Andrade has proven that he’s an exceptional athlete with enough drive and heart to be the next bantamweight world champion.
Stephen Loman predicts winner of John Lineker vs. Fabricio Andrade rematch
Filipino rising star Stephen Loman is excited to watch Fabricio Andrade take on John Lineker in their upcoming rematch at ONE on Prime Video 7.
As the No.3 ranked contender in the division, Loman will be watching the rematch with great anticipation. Following a no-contest ruling in the first match due to a groin injury, Loman believes the rematch will be a repeat of their first meeting but without the unforeseen injuries.
At the post-event presser at ONE on Prime Video 4, Loman said:
“Andrade has a good striking, he almost got John Lineker but the fight not ended well, so he [Andrade] will do the same punishment from his strikes and knees, so I think he will win the fight.”
Stephen Loman recently defeated former ONE bantamweight world champion Bibiano Fernandes for the No.3 spot in the rankings. He went the full three rounds, dominating Fernades’ wrestling from start to finish.
As he’s one step closer to a shot at the world title, the likelihood of facing Fabricio Andrade for the belt is becoming more apparent each new day.
