Jon Jones has not competed in mixed martial arts since defeating Ciryl Gane via first-round submission to capture the vacant heavyweight title at UFC 285. He is set to make his highly-anticipated return to the octagon when he faces Stipe Miocic at UFC 309 later this month.

The bout has been over a year in the making, as the two were initially set to clash at UFC 295 last year before 'Bones' was forced to withdraw due to injury. The heavyweight champion took to Instagram to share footage of himself working out leading up to the bout, captioning the post:

"240 pounds, fast and strong. I used to walk around at 235lbs as a light heavyweight. This almost feels like a light heavyweight fight without the weight cut. @mr_nfp @jjstanbro"

@whitewomencomedy responded to the post, suggesting he face Miocic, Alex Pereira, and Francis Ngannou before retiring:

"Stipe, Pereira and Frances submit em all and then Retire! Nothing else you need!"

'Bones' responded to the suggestion, claiming:

"@whitewomencomedy I like where your heads at, super fights only."

Jones has previously hinted that his UFC 309 clash with Miocic will be the last bout of his legendary mixed martial arts career. Meanwhile, both Pereira and Ngannou seem unrealistic opponents. The former has shared that he doesn't plan to move to heavyweight, while the latter has left the promotion altogether.

Tom Aspinall shares prediction for Jon Jones vs. Stipe Miocic

Tom Aspinall had angled for the opportunity to face Jon Jones for the undisputed heavyweight title, to no avail. The No.1-ranked heavyweight recently weighed in on the upcoming title bout, revealing that he is leaning towards picking 'Bones' to defeat Stipe Miocic.

Speaking to Ariel Helwani, Aspinall claimed:

"I would edge towards Jon, of course, just because he's younger and he's a little fresher than Stipe. Stipe, let's be honest, we don't really know where he's at. He's definitely the best heavyweight of all-time. He's also like 42 years old, 43 years old. His last fight, he got knocked out, which was like three or four years ago now. We have no idea what he's going to look like."

Aspinall noted that Jones has been active recently and looked good, referencing his first-round submission victory over Ciryl Gane at UFC 285. He added that he gives 'Bones' a 60 percent chance of retaining the heavyweight title.
