Former ONE flyweight Muay Thai world champion Jonathan Haggerty will be stepping up to the plate in a quest to conquer a new weight class.
After putting together a string of solid wins and winning his first foray into a heavier weight class, 'The General' is now slated to challenge Nong-O Hama for the ONE bantamweight Muay Thai world title.
Nong-O has been one of, if not the most, consistently dominant strikers in ONE Championship throughout the promotion's history. Apart from multiple world titles under his belt, the Thai living legend has defended the ONE bantamweight Muay Thai world title a record seven times - the most in the organization's history.

Haggerty's fans are all raving about the upcoming battle and made it known in the comments to a recent post. Here are some of the fan sentiments on the ONE Fight Night 9 main event battle:

@airbrush_step_by_step said some interesting insight on Haggerty's footwork and how it relates to his Thai opponent:
"His footwork is not as fast as yours. So , quick footwork and lots of teeping can be the answer...like always🔥"
Other ONE fighters like strawweight kickboxing king Jonathan Di Bella and strawweight Muay Thai fighter Jackie Buntan expressed their excitement through emoji:
"🔥🔥🔥"
One comment, which was by @_danielashura, sums it all up in one sentence:
"This is war🔥👏"
Jonathan Haggerty looks huge and powerful ahead of bantamweight world title bout
After losing his ONE flyweight Muay Thai belt and failing to recapture it from Rodtang Jitmuangnon, Jonathan Haggerty put together an impressive comeback trail.
After dominant flyweight victories over Taiki Naito and Mongkolpetch Petchyindee, however, 'The General' decided to move up to bantamweight. This is in light of him pulling out of two fights consecutively due to health reasons.
Haggerty's initial attempt to move up was a bit shaky as he missed the ONE bantamweight mark by three pounds. Still, he pulled off a majority decision win over Vladimir Kuzmin at ONE on Prime Video 4.
Now, just two months ahead of his five-round clash with Nong-O on April 29, Haggerty looks to be in prime form to make weight and dominate. In a video released by ONE Championship on Instagram, we saw Haggety looking big and strong while hitting the Muay Thai pads:
