Aljamain Sterling previews upcoming UFC 285 title bout between Jon Jones and Ciryl Gane

Jon Jones will finally return to the octagon at UFC 285 more than three years after his last bout. The undisputed greatest light heavyweight of all-time will face Ciryl Gane in his heavyweight debut. Bantamweight champion Aljamain Sterling previewed the title fight on his YouTube channel, FunkMasterMMA, stating:

"The biggest advantage for Jones in this fight is his championship caliber - that experience - and his wrestling acumen. I think that is going to be something that he's going to heavily have to rely on. I'm not saying he can't strike with Ciryl Gane, but you have to imagine the longer the fight stays on the feet in those first, second, and third rounds, I think it's more in the favor of Gane. If Jon is mixing in takedowns, it makes it more tricky."

Jones has shown the ability to dominate fights on the ground and on his feet. Former UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou laid out the blueprint to defeating Gane at UFC 270, as he handed him the only loss of his career despite fighting with a torn ACL. Jones, who is a far more skilled wrestler than Ngannou, will likely look to utilize a similar strategy.
