Anthony Smith has failed to make weight as the backup fighter for the UFC 283 main event despite being given two chances. 'Lionheart' weighed in at 1.5 pounds over the championship limit on his second attempt, making him ineligible to compete.
While Smith will not be required to step in as a replacement for either Jamahal Hill or Glover Teixeira considering both men have successfully made weight, fans are not happy. Smith has also spoken out against fighter unprofessionalism for not making weight in the past.
Fans made their feelings known in the comments section of a weigh-in video posted by TheMacLife channel on YouTube.

Anthony Smith is pessimistic about Francis Ngannou's boxing aspirations
Anthony Smith recently expressed his dismay at Francis Ngannou leaving the UFC and cast doubt on the success of the Cameroonian-French fighter's long-term plans.
The former UFC Heavyweight Champion parted ways with the UFC after failing to reach the middle ground in contract renewal negotiations. Ngannou initially demanded to be allowed to compete as a boxer outside the promotion but the UFC was not willing to oblige.
However, on a recent episode of the Believe You Me podcast with Michael Bisping, Anthony Smith claimed that 'The Predator' did not have the boxing skills to compete at an elite level. He also added that the 36-year-old stood no chance against a boxer like Tyson Fury. He stated:
"Let’s say he gets the Tyson Fury fight... There’s not a world where Francis Ngannou beats Tyson Fury... In professional boxing, he’s average at best. He’s an average puncher, he’s a below-average boxer, he’s below average in his footwork and movement, he’s below average in his defense. He’s not going to fare that well as a heavyweight professional boxer."
