In an appearance on The Ariel Helwani Show prior to his matchup against Ian Machado Garry at UFC 310, Shavkat Rakhmonov disclosed that he had submitted Garry in a sparring session years ago.
Following Rakhmonov's remarks, Garry shared his version of events, stating that he was in fact submitted by the Kazakh. However, it happened during training, where the main objective is to improve your abilities.
In a recent interview with talkSport, the Irishman said:
''Yes, it's training. Dude, if I tell you all the people that I have absolutely burned and choked in training, you would say I'm the best fighter already. The truth is, we're all learning, practicing in training."
