Liam Harrison shares how Muay Thai saved him from a life on the streets

The 37-year-old grew up in Leeds, West Yorkshire, England. It's known as being a tough area, but Harrison leaned on Muay Thai to stay out of the streets.

He said on Instagram:

"Obviously, I've grown up in a rough area where honestly not many people make it out. A lot of my friends have ended up in jail. While they were out in the streets getting up to all sorts I was in the gym."

'Hitman' added:

"In the gym at 13, 14. Then at 15, I started to get really serious with my training ... And that's when most of my friends- some were like getting sent off to jail and they're on the brink of either going one way or the other. I totally left all that."

Watch Liam Harrison speak on his past and how Muay Thai saved him below:

The former bantamweight Muay Thai title challenger currently finds himself ranked at No. 4 in the division, trailing Rodlek PK.Saenchai, Alaverdi Ramazanov, Saemapetch Fairtex, and the champ, Nong-O Hama.

Over the past year, Harrison had bouts scheduled with Pongsiri PK.Saenchai and even Floyd Mayweather Jr. in an exhibition bout, but 'Hitman' had to withdraw from both fights due to injury.

Be sure to check back with Sportskeeda MMA for an announcement pertaining to Liam Harrison's next match, as he looks to get back on track after losing to the bantamweight Muay Thai king Nong-O last August.
