Through his countless incredible fights, Rodtang has been able to transcend the sport of Muay Thai and become a huge name thanks to his success and fighting style.
Another aspect to his success is his willingness to take himself out of his comfort zone and find new challenges. On January 13, the flyweight Muay Thai world champion competed under the kickboxing ruleset for the first time in two years.
Defeating China’s Jiduo Yibu at ONE’s first event of the year, Rodtang set himself up for the opportunity to claim a second world championship.
Sharing the champion’s achievement of winning 270 professional bouts, fans reacted to ONE’s post in the comments below:

Rodtang says result vs. Jiduo Yibu would have been different if it was a Muay Thai fight
Rodtang Jitmuangnon always puts on a show for the fans. Whilst he was unable to get a finish in his most recent fight, things might have played out differently had it been a Muay Thai contest.
The reigning ONE flyweight Muay Thai world champion fought in his first kickboxing contest in over two years at ONE Fight Night 6 on January 13. In Bangkok, Thailand, he defeated China’s Jiduo Yibu by unanimous decision at a catchweight.
The world champion remained dominant despite the switch in rulesets, controlling the fight and dropping Yibu late in the opening round.
Despite Yibu’s best efforts, he couldn’t change the momentum of the fight when faced with the resilient Thai star.
While happy with the win, the 25-year-old fighter shared that he would have preferred to have finished Yibu at ONE Fight Night 6. In his in-circle interview, the flyweight Muay Thai champ said:
“Of course I had to change my style, this is kickboxing, this is not Muay Thai. I always have to be ready to change. If I came for the Muay Thai it wouldn’t be the result that you saw.”
With a big win in a new division, the flyweight Muay Thai king is looking to add another world championship to his collection, saying:
“I will try to get the kickboxing belt next.”
He is currently the No.1 contender for the ONE flyweight kickboxing world title belt, which is now held by his countryman Superlek Kiatmoo9.
