‘Super’ Sage Northcutt is scheduled to make his long-awaited return to the circle on May 5 when ONE Championship makes its highly anticipated debut in the United States. Northcutt will be part of what is sure to be a stacked lineup as the promotion presents ONE Fight Night 10 on Prime Video.
At the 1STBANK Center in Colorado, Northcutt will compete for the first time in nearly four years when he meets Pakistani MMA champion Ahmed Mujtaba.
Despite the long layoff, Sage Northcutt is still relatively young at 26 years old. In a recent interview with ONE Championship, ‘Super’ commented on his age and the many years he still has left to compete:
“Being 26 years old right now, I’m still extremely young, so I’m looking forward to a long and successful career. I feel like I’m just getting started, and I’m still so young that I can have a lot of fights.”

Sage Northcutt details post-COVID complications that kept him on the shelf
Sage Northcutt saw a long layoff after suffering a devastating injury in his ONE Championship debut in May 2019. Looking towards a 2021 return against Asian MMA legend Shinya Aoki, Northcutt was dealt yet another setback after a difficult bout with COVID-19.
In an interview with the South China Morning Post, ‘Super’ detailed just how bad things were after contracting the virus in January 2021:
"I was training hard. I was looking forward to the fight with Shinya [Aoki]. And as you know... I came down with COVID back in January [2021]. And then from there I developed blood clots from being sick. After blood clots, I was getting blood work done, checking out how I'm healing up with my progression and everything."
Sage Northcutt continued:
"I had some pain in my kidneys so got that checked out and my kidneys weren't doing too good from the COVID. And then my immune system was pretty much compromised. So I've just been healing up from that."
Fortunately, Northcutt has made a full recovery and will return to the circle in just a matter of months to get his once-budding career back on track at ONE Fight Night 10.
