As seen in the video, McGregor surprisingly survived the incident unscathed. 'The Notorious' expressed no resentment towards the vehicle driver and thanked God for his safety. His supporters and critics filled the internet with a broad range of reactions.
Youtube user @Flying Rocket quoted:
"This man's life is full of surprises. Thank the lord he's okay."
@Hannybal Beats also shared the same emotions:
"Lucky he's alive. Didn't expect it to be this genuine... wish them both a fast recovery."
@More MMA lauded the way McGregor handled the situation:
"Commendable the way he handled this situation honestly".
@L G G B wrote:
"That's the Conor we want to see. Not the crazy one. I am glad that everyone is ok".
@Walsh28 thanked God that both the parties were okay:
"This man has a great story for his Grankids. On another note Thank God no one was seriously hurt".
While these were some of the well-wishers' sentiments, there were others who used the occasion to poke some fun at the former two-division UFC champion.
Henry Cejudo used this opportunity to mock Conor McGregor's strength and cardio:
"Glad you are ok. Heard you were on a bike because you ran out of gas."
Another Twitter user hilariously claimed Hasbulla could have been the one driving the vehicle that struck McGregor:
While another user found a way to mock his recent massive muscle gain, he wrote:
A Twitter user tweeted:
When will Conor McGregor possibly return to the octagon?
Conor McGregor has been out of action for more than a year after suffering a horrific leg fracture in his trilogy bout against Dustin Poirier at UFC 264. While away from the sport, the former two-division champion has undergone intensive healing and rehabilitation.
McGregor recently took to Instagram to declare that he has been offered a coaching position on The Ultimate Fighter (TUF). In 2015, the Irishman competed on the reality show and guided his team to a win over team Urijah Faber.
While the MMA world has been wondering who will go up against Conor McGregor in the latest season of TUF, Tony Ferguson has declared himself to be the frontrunner.
'El Cucuy' took to Twitter to post:
However, Michael Chandler also used the situation to cast himself as a viable opponent for the Irishman.
While both McGregor and Ferguson have a history of back-and-forth, Michael Chandler is one of the most entertaining fighters on the roster and has been calling 'The Notorious' out ever since his arrival in the UFC.
Should the UFC manage to pull off another TUF with McGregor, fans can expect the Irishman to return to the octagon halfway through the year.
