"Fast recovery hermano" - Brandon Moreno, Stamp Fairtex wish the best for Mikey Musumeci after suffering from torn lung

Former ONE flyweight submission grappling world champion Mikey Musumeci received well-wishes from his peers after tearing his lung ahead of his scheduled defense of the crown against Bebeto Oliveira at ONE 168: Denver last Friday, Sept. 6, inside the Ball Arena.

'Darth Rigatoni' revealed on Instagram that the injury, called pneumomediastinum, happened while doing Rickson Diaphragm Breathing exercises to cut weight. Unfortunately, he failed the hydration test and ultimately lost the 135-pound submission grappling crown on the scale.

Mikey Musumeci still in high spirits despite life-threatening injury

Despite the setbacks he faced over the past week, Mikey Musumeci wants to prove that his positive attitude will triumph over adversity — all with the help of his undying love for pizza.

During his hospital stay over the past weekend, Musumeci took to his Instagram Stories and shared how the classic Italian dish is helping him out.

He wrote:

"When the doctors in the hospital wanted to give me an IV, I told them just get me a pizza and I'll be all good 💀 shoutout to my mom for bringing me my favorite pizza @signorapizza @florianapastore to the hospital❤️ 😭"
