A UFC women's strawweight fighter shared a heartwarming story about her encounter with soccer legend Wayne Rooney at a UFC event in London. The fighter revealed that Rooney not only congratulated her on her victory but also carried her bags and joined her after-party.

Rooney was visibly thrilled to support Molly McCann and her fellow Liverpudlian fighter Paddy Pimblett after their victories at UFC London in 2022. Rooney, who was in London for a soccer match at the time, made the effort to visit the fighters backstage and celebrate their achievements.

McCann was particularly impressed by Rooney's down-to-earth attitude and his genuine enthusiasm for the UFC. She described him as a "proper hero" and expressed her admiration for his humility and kindness.

Speaking to Mirror, the 34-year-old scoucer said:

"He's one of my mates to be fair - a hero you can look up to... He came in our changies and came to the after party with us - carried my bags as well. He’s just normal. He's a proper hero. Blew my mind, blew my mind."

When ex-UFC champion claimed Wayne Rooney could beat Jake Paul in a potential boxing match

Former UFC champion Michael Bisping once made a bold claim that former England captain Wayne Rooney could defeat YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul in a boxing match.

Bisping praised Rooney's athleticism, discipline, and toughness, suggesting that he could give Paul a tough fight despite the size difference.

Rooney, a lifelong Liverpool fan, has a boxing background and has previously expressed interest in the sport. He even led out former world champion Ricky Hatton to the ring during one of Hatton's fights.

Bisping said:

“Wayne Rooney is nowhere near the size of Jake Paul. But one thing we know, he'll have tremendous footwork. This is a man that's competed at the highest level of sport. He's got the dedication and the discipline."

He added:

"He's a scouser and they're tough people. Rooney is used to having a row, he grew up in a tough part of Liverpool and he's had many street fights and if he had a really good coach to take him under his wing, he can beat up that YouTuber all day long.”[H/t: DAZN]
