Japanese kickboxing icon and former ONE world title challenger 'The Natural Born Crusher' Takeru Segawa has built a solid reputation as a fighter who never backs down from a challenge.
There is no better evidence of this than his Jan. 2024 ONE Championship debut against two-sport, two-division world champion 'The Kicking Machine' Superlek Kiatmoo9.
Takeru faced Superlek in a five-round war at ONE 165 in Tokyo, Japan. He fell just short of victory by dropping a unanimous decision to the Thai icon, but Takeru more than proved his worth in an awe-inspiring performance.
Fans were impressed by his rock-solid resolve, as he never once wavered nor gave up in the face of imminent danger against Superlek.

Speaking to ONE Championship in a recent interview, Takeru explained where that toughness comes from.
'The Natural Born Crusher' said:
"Since the beginning, I’ve approached fights not just as sports matches, but with the resolve to fight for my life. So even in the last fight, whether bones break or muscles tear, I fight with the mindset that the one who knocks out the other wins."
Needless to say, Takeru is one of the toughest fighters on the planet. And he gets to showcase that ironclad resolve once again when he returns to action next weekend.
