A former UFC middleweight recently weighed in on Daniel Cormier's comments regarding Alex Pereira not fighting Magomed Ankalaev and shared a hilarious take. It was recently confirmed that Ankalaev won't be challenging 'Poatan' for his title, which surprised many as the two were believed to be linked to a title fight.
During a recent episode of ESPN's Good Guy / Bad Guy podcast, the former two-division UFC champion opened up about the light heavyweight title situation. 'DC' stated that he believes the promotion is protecting Pereira from fighting a wrestler to avoid being exposed because he is known predominatly as a striker.
Former UFC middleweight Derek Bruson took to X to chime in on the Hall of Famer's comments and noted that he hasn't been one to criticise the promotion. Brunson made a humorous take by noting that Cormier's days with the UFC could be numbered as a result of his comments. He wrote:

What did Daniel Cormier say about Alex Pereira?
Daniel Cormier weighed in on the UFC light heavyweight title picture and shared his thoughts on why Alex Pereira isn't defending his title against Magomed Ankalaev.
Parry Punch tweeted a clip from a recent episode of ESPN's Good Guy / Bad Guy podcast, which showed Cormier stating that the UFC is trying to protect Pereira. He said:
"I don't know why [Alex] Pereira is not fighting [Magomed] Ankalaev right now. I don't know why that's not happening. What I do like is that now Ankalaev has to pass another test. What the UFC is kind of saying here is, 'We've got this star, and we know that this guy here [Ankalaev] could be a real potential issue for that star. They will fight eventually, but they will fight when we have no other option."
