Jarred Brooks only showed glimpses of his personality when he arrived at ONE Championship in 2021. That was, however, only until he got ahold of a microphone.
The former ONE strawweight MMA world champion is one of the best talkers in the sport, and his promos aren't just built on shallow words but on the foundation of an emotional and spirited persona.
In an interview with ONE Championship, Brooks explained why he cuts such intense promos whenever he talks about himself or his opponents.

He said:
"I'm emotional, bro. Fighters are emotional. Some fighters don't know how to express that, and it's either their biggest downfall or their biggest ally in a fight. But I would rather be straight in the open."
Jarred Brooks has a promo style akin to professional wrestlers, and he'll often say similar things in his interviews, albeit in a calmer way.
'The Monkey God' typically ramps up his aggressive talk during fight week and things often reach their boiling point once he steps inside the cage or between the ropes.
After he's done his fair share of talking, Brooks would go on to backup his claims and dominate anyone who dared face him inside the Circle.
Brooks is an impressive 4-1 in his MMA matches in ONE Championship, and his lone defeat was a disqualification loss at ONE 166 when he relinquished the ONE strawweight MMA world title to Joshua Pacio this past March.
Nevertheless, Brooks will get closer to his march back to the throne when he faces Gustavo Balart for the ONE interim strawweight MMA world title at ONE Fight Night 24.
Jarred Brooks' interim world title shot against the Cuban Olympic wrestler goes down at Lumpinee Stadium this Friday at U.S. primetime.
ONE Fight Night 24 is available live and free to all Prime Video subscribers in the United States and Canada.
Jarred Brooks hellbent on reclaiming the strawweight MMA throne
Jarred Brooks wants nothing more than to once again become the undisputed ONE strawweight MMA world champion, and proclaim his dominance over the stacked division.
In an interview with ONE Championship, Brooks said of his interim world title match against Gustavo Balart in Bangkok:
"I see it as just climbing back up to get to where I need to be, man. That's it. I just need to keep on climbing and he's there and he's resting up at the top of the mountain and that's cool. I'm still going. I don't care if anything pops in my way. There's nothing that's gonna stop me from getting to where I need to go."
