Chris Curtis and Joaquin Buckley are set to collide in a potential fight-of-the-year contender bout. The two middleweights have now agreed not to shoot for a takedown in order to steal a performance bonus.
'The Action Man' has been a sensation since his UFC debut, scoring back-to-back knockouts over Phil Hawes and Brendan Allen in his first two octagon outings. The heavy-hitter most recently lost a decision to Jack Hermansson and will be hoping to get back to winning ways next time out.
In a post on social media, Chris Curtis accepted Joaquin Buckley's request for a slugfest. Both men have promised not to take this one to the ground with the fight of the night bonus firmly in their sights.
"So yesterday Joaquin Buckley asked if I'm gonna shoot on him, 'cause he wants [the] fight of the night [bonus]. I am one hundred percent down for this. We can touch gloves and meet in the center and stay there for 15 minutes. No running. [The] first to back out or shoot is a timid soul. I want FOTY [fight of the year]."
