Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt Mayssa Bastos has had her fair share of hardships and struggles and knows better than dwelling too much on them. It is a mindset that she has learned to incorporate in establishing a solid career.

The 27-year-old Art of Jiu-Jitsu Academy standout moved to share this in an interview with ONE Championship ahead of her scheduled return to action at ONE Fight Night 24: Brooks vs. Balart on Prime Video on Aug. 2 in Bangkok, Thailand.

At the event, she will challenge reigning champion Danielle Kelly for the ONE atomweight submission grappling world title, with the event taking place at the famed Lumpinee Stadium. It will be aired live and for free in U.S. primetime to North American fans with an active Amazon Prime Video subscription.

In the interview, Mayssa Bastos spoke about how she keeps things in perspective when she is put in a rough patch, saying:

"Each challenge and moment surpassed for me is a victory. It is knowing that nothing is permanent and making sure that everything I am doing has a greater purpose than the bad moment I am going through and will somehow generate learning and growth. So the advice I can give is to focus on the things you have control over, because nothing is permanent, whether the bad or good time."

At ONE Fight Night 24, Mayssa Bastos will try to become a ONE world champion in only her second outing in the promotion. She made her debut back in March, where she won by unanimous decision over Kanae Yamada of Japan.

Kelly, meanwhile, will be making her first defense of the ONE atomweight submission grappling world title she won in September last year over Bastos' teammate Jessa Khan.

Mayssa Bastos says winning ONE world title carries a lot of significance

Mayssa Bastos views her upcoming world title bid at ONE Fight Night 24 on Prime Video on Aug. 2 in Thailand with a lot of significance, saying a victory will go a long way in validating all the hard work she has put in her martial arts career.

The BJJ black belt vies for the ONE atomweight submission grappling world title against reigning champion Danielle Kelly in the co-headlining event happening at the Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok.

Bastos spoke about the importance of emerging victorious over Kelly at ONE Fight Night 24 in an interview with ONE Championship, saying:

"Winning this title would bring recognition to the work I have done. Since ONE is a platform with global reach, it will help a lot. It would be great to show the world what I love to do and inspire people."

Mayssa Bastos is a multi-time jiu-jitsu champion, both in gi and no gi, before coming on board with ONE Championship.
