Gervonta Davis and Vasiliy Lomachenko are two of the biggest stars in the current boxing scenario. Many in the boxing community are eager for the two boxers to square off after their recent victory, and it appears that this desire is finally being fulfilled.

In a previous interview with BoxingScene, Lomachenko's promoter, Bob Arum of Top Rank Boxing, revealed the Ukrainian would like to fight Davis next.

According to boxing journalist Dan Rafael, Arum has acknowledged that talks about the fight have started to take place. The fight is anticipated to happen at the end of the year, depending on how long the discussions take.

Michael Benson recently took to X and shared the announcement for the title unification fight, writing:

''Gervonta Davis vs Vasyl Lomachenko negotiations have now resumed for a WBA & IBF lightweight world title unification fight following Tank's win over Frank Martin and Bob Arum has confirmed these talks are ongoing. [@DanRafael1]''

In the aforementioned interview, Arum shared his thoughts on Shakur Stevenson as the next potential opponent for 'The Matrix'. However, the head of promotions asserted that Lomachenko vs. Davis would be a more lucrative bout at the box office.

"[Gervonta Davis] is a very good, powerful kid, good puncher and he wasn't fighting a tomato can... We're up for that fight. Lomachenko's up for that... When we sit down, we will see if it's feasible, but Lomachenko would like to do that fight... Davis has established a position where he's good at the box office... a fight with Davis would produce more money than a fight with Shakur."

In his most recent boxing outing on June 15, Davis defeated Frank Martin via eighth-round KO, effectively defending his WBA lightweight title. Meanwhile, Lomachenko last competed in May 2024, where he won the vacant IBF lightweight title by defeating George Kambosos Jr. via 11th-round TKO.

Gervonta Davis predicts his potential matchup with Vasiliy Lomachenko

Reports from earlier this month suggested that, if Gervonta Davis defeated Frank Martin, he might go on to face Vasiliy Lomachenko. 'Tank' announced that he would not back down from facing any opponent during his post-fight news conference as he celebrated his victory over Martin.

The Baltimore-born KO artist was asked to predict the outcome of a possible fight between Lomachenko and himself. In response, he said:

"Predictions? You know what I say, man. A** whooping time, man. A** whooping."
