Tony Ferguson is one of the most polarized fighters to have graced the UFC octagon. After eleven years, Ferguson has reportedly moved on from UFC and signed with GFL, a new promotion seeking to "revolutionize" combat sports. As the news of his exit started doing rounds, a former rival called out Ferguson for a rematch in the new promotion.
'El Cucuy' had a dream run in the UFC comprising a phenomenal 12-fight winning streak. Later, he struggled to return to the win column and was on an eight-fight losing streak.
As soon as the news of Ferguson joining GFL started circulating, Kevin Lee took to X and called out the former UFC interim lightweight champion for a rematch.
"My head coach passed shortly after my title fight with @TonyFergusonXT in 2017 that sent my career in a whirlwind. This fight in 2025 will be about redemption. I lost my cool and let emotion overcome my skills. This fight in @mmagfl will be different. Time to get what’s mine."

Lee took on Ferguson at UFC 216 in an interim lightweight title fight. Ferguson clutched Lee in a triangle choke in the third round of the bout to secure a submission victory.
When Tony Ferguson jumped between online back-and-forth between Khabib Nurmagomedov and Conor McGregor
Khabib Nurmagomedov and Conor McGregor shared a bitter rivalry in the past. They fought each other in 2018 where McGregor suffered a fourth-round submission defeat. All these years later, the duo still trade barbs at each other on social media platforms.
Recently, Nurmagomedov made headlines by terming Dagestani fighters more skilled than the Irish combatants in a PFL promo. This didn't go down well with McGregor who retorted back at 'The Eagle.'
Nurmagomedov's post also sparked a reaction from Tony Ferguson, who wrote:
"Shut up fathead. Eure still my b*tch, you fought 2 round "pro" padded fights leading up to the UFC Easy to talk when you're not competing you e*nic. Once a coward always a coward Champ CSO 29-1 ok maybe 2."
