A former UFC champion recently expressed his opinion after comparing Zack Snyder and James Gunn's presentations of Superman to the first-ever Superman series featuring Christopher Reeve.
The ex-UFC champion in discussion is Matt Serra, a former welterweight who claimed the undisputed divisional gold in UFC 69. A large part of Serra's popularity in the UFC community comes from defeating the massively respected, Georges St-Pierre, in the fight to win the title.
The 2018 UFC Hall Of Fame inductee often delves deep into discussions regarding several other topics apart from the UFC on his YouTube channel. In the latest video, 'The Terra' delved into a chat with his co-host about the upcoming Superman movie scheduled to release in July this year.
Serra also recollected his memories of watching Christopher Reeve in the first-ever Superman and compared them to the later presentations of Superman by the directors, Snyder and Gunn. His words showcased that he still considers Reeve an apt match for the Superman character.

Serra also rated Gunn's presentation as a throwback to Reeve's Superman movies. However, despite being impressed by a few parts of Zack Snyder's portrayal of Superman, he labeled them as more "science fiction" than his expectations. The former UFC champ said:
"Christopher Reeve was great. Great. But, Zack Snyder. There were some really cool parts in that Man Of Steel. [But] it was way more science-fictoney… This James Gunn Superman [upcoming] feels like it’s almost like a throwback."

Matt Serra's victory over Georges St-Pierre at UFC 69 came in a rather unconventional method
A large chunk of the UFC fanbase considers Matt Serra's victory over Georges St-Pierre one of the biggest upsets in the promotion's history. 'Rush' set the record straight with a win in their rematch at UFC 83, but his defeat against Serra came in one of the most unusual methods.
Both Sera and St-Pierre started the fight cautiously with the latter attempting a few high-kicks. However, Serra got the better of an exchange in the fourth minute of the fight and wobbled his rival.
Thereafter, 'The Terra' floored 'Rush' and unleashed a barrage of ground-and-pound on him, which had St-Pierre tapping out to his strikes. Statistics showcase that the fight ended in a TKO victory for Serra, but it is one of the rare instances in UFC history when a fighter tapped out to the strikes from his rival.
