The UFC will kickstart 2023 with UFC Vegas 67 which will take place on January 14, 2023, at the UFC Apex facility in Las Vegas.
Following Kelvin Gastelum's withdrawal from the main event, the card took another hit when Isaac Dulgarian was forced to withdraw from his featherweight bout against Daniel Argueta due to injury.
While mercurial UFC middleweight contender Sean Strickland jumped in to save the day, serving as a replacement for the main event, Anthony Pettis Fighting Championship (APFC) graduate Nick Aguirre has stepped in as a replacement for the injured Isaac Dulgarian.

The former UFC lightweight champion took to Twitter to congratulate the APFC alumni for signing a new deal with the world leader in MMA:
"A second APFC graduate has signed with the UFC. Congrats to Nick Aguirre on his new deal. Look out for his UFC debut Saturday."
Nick 'Slick' Aguirre boasts an unblemished pro-MMA record, amassing seven victories in as many fights. While all of his victories have come by way of a finish, Aguirre has won all but one of his fights with a first-round stoppage.
Aguirre, clearly ecstatic about the opportunity to fight at UFC Vegas 67, took to Instagram to announce his arrival on the grand stage of the world's premier MMA organization:
"Boom. Life is crazy, but I’m excited to announce that I’m making my @ufc debut this Saturday on ESPN+ against Dan Argueta! I’ve worked my a*s off and dreamt about this opportunity my entire life. Time to make the most of it! 8-0 here I come."

Kelvin Gastelum's UFC Vegas 67 pull-out injury alarms Conor McGregor
Kelvin Gastelum's withdrawal from his scheduled bout against Nassourdine Imavov was a huge setback for the UFC Vegas 67 card. Fortunately, Sean Strickland stepped in as a replacement, achieving the rare distinction of headlining consecutive UFC events.
Gastelum posted a disturbing video of himself receiving stitches inside his mouth. However, Conor McGregor feels Gastelum's injury may be more complicated than it appears.
Viewer discretion advised:
Conor McGregor is certain that the infection was caused by staph and believes that Kelvin Gastelum should treat it severely:
"Absolute scruff this thing is. That's full on staph infection all over his f**king face. A full fu**king hole omg and it's his second time to attempt to enter competition like this. wtf! clean your mats. wash yourself. fucking go to the doctor! Scruff."
