A former UFC fighter recently predicted how Islam Makhachev will defeat his new opponent, Renato Moicano, in the main event of UFC 311. He opined that Makhachev would utilize a finishing maneuver similar to the one he used at UFC 280.

UFC 311 recently went through a major shake-up as Makhachev's previously scheduled challenger, Arman Tsarukyan, had to withdraw from the bout just hours before the weigh-ins. UFC CEO Dana White announced that Moicano, who was slated to take on Beneil Dariush on the same night, would now fight Makhachev for lightweight gold.

With his wrestling background, Tsarukyan presented a more complex stylistic matchup for Makhachev, and their first bout back in 2019 was highly competitive despite the Armenian taking the fight on short notice. Understandably, Moicano is a heavy betting underdog but poses a submission threat this weekend.

Former UFC bantamweight Saidyokub Kakhramonov believes Makhachev will prevail over Moicano this weekend. He also predicted the specific method by which Makhachev would finish his new foe, the same submission the Dagestani used against Charles Oliveira:

Khabib Nurmagomedov extends support for Arman Tsarukyan following UFC 311 pull-out

Arman Tsarukyan's maiden UFC championship opportunity blew up at the eleventh hour, and Islam Makhachev has a new challenger. While some fans have taken to social media to poke fun at Tsarukyan, the head of the Dagestani camp of fighters, Khabib Nurmagomedov, labeled it a normal incident in combat sports.

In a recent Instagram post on the UFC's official account, Nurmagomedov compared Tsarukyan's pull-out to his withdrawal from his UFC 209 fight against Tony Ferguson in 2017. He also detailed how he got hospitalized during his weight cut, leading to the fight being canceled. 'The Eagle' also mentioned that Tsarukyan has all the qualities to make a strong comeback soon:

"Honestly, this can happen with [to] anybody. If you guys remember 2017 March, it happened with me too. Then I go hospital, make surgery and came back... I just want to wish him [Tsarukyan] all the best. He's young, he's tough, he can comeback. He will have to survive this situation and come back."
