A former UFC referee recently recalled Steven Seagal predicting Lyoto Machida's famous front-kick knockout win over Randy Couture. A massive audience witnessed the highlight-reel knockout as it took place at UFC 129 in May 2011, which drew a promotion attendance record of 55,724 at Rogers Centre in Toronto, Canada.
'The Dragon's perfectly timed front-kick was shades of his fellow countryman Anderson Silva, who knocked out Vitor Belfort with the exact same kick two months prior. Following the loss to Machida, Couture officially announced his retirement from MMA.
During his latest appearance on Quinton 'Rampage' Jackson's JAXXON PODCAST, former UFC referee 'Big' John McCarthy recalled Seagal making the bold prediction that 'The Dragon' would finish 'The Natural' with a front-kick. He said:
"[Machida] is warming up...And Steven Seagal is there. And he comes up, says, 'John, Lyoto-san is gonna do the same thing. Did you see Anderson against Vitor Belfort?' I said, 'Yes, Steven, I saw it'...He says, 'Lyoto is gonna do the same thing to Randy Couture today'. Not an easy thing to pull off, but best of luck to him. And I'm thinking to myself, 'Bullsh*t'...All of a sudden, Lyoto pulls off that kick and Steven Seagal's over me, 'I told you'."

John McCarthy recalls conversation with Randy Couture following loss to Lyoto Machida
In addition to recalling Steven Seagal's bold prediction, former UFC referee John McCarthy recalled his conversation with Randy Couture following his loss to Lyoto Machida.
During the aforementioned appearance, McCarthy mentioned that he jokingly blamed Couture for having to credit Seagal for predicting the outcome of a fight before it transpired:
"I went to Randy Couture afterwards and I said, 'You son of a bi*ch'. And he goes, 'What?' And I said, 'Do you realize that for the rest of my life, I've gotta say Steven Seagal called that fight before it ever happened?'...I had to [tell him], man. And he goes, 'Oh, sh*t.'"
