Former UFC lightweight title challenger Kevin Lee has taken yet another significant step in his MMA career. 'The Motown Phenom' has now officially signed under one of the biggest athletic managers in the sport, Ali Abdelaziz.

Abdelaziz, who acknowledged Lee as a star, expects the UFC veteran to become a superstar within a year. Breaking the news, Damon Martin of MMA Junkie wrote on Twitter:

UFC veteran Kevin Lee has signed with @AliAbdelaziz00 for management. Statement from Ali about the signing: “Kevin is a longtime training partner. He hasn’t even hit his peak yet. He’s always been a star but in the next 12 months, I think he will be a superstar.”

Lee was previously managed by Marquel Martin, who also manages heavyweight champ Francis Ngannou. 'The Motown Phenom' had previously stated that his UFC release was in retaliation for Ngannou's contract dispute with the company. Reacting to the news of their new alliance, Abdelaziz wrote on Twitter:

"@MoTownPhenom it’s an honor my brother, get ready people because I have not been this excited in a long time"

Kevin Lee's recent callout to Khamzat Chimaev

Khamzat Chimaev recently made yet another ducking allegation in one of his recent vlogs. 'Borz' claimed to have been ducked by four different opponents in four countries.

UFC veteran Kevin Lee surprisingly offered to step up as an opponent for the Chechen-born Swede contender. 'The Motown Phenom', having never lost a first round in his life, wasn't scared of an early defeat.

Lee also believes that 'Borz' won't outwrestle him. Not wanting to buy into the hype around Chimaev, the 30-year-old said:

"I will fight [Khamzat Chimaev] next. He won’t outwrestle me and I’ve never lost a fight round [UFC]. All I’m saying is I’m willing. Don’t act like everybody scared of the man.”

Lee was unceremoniously released from the UFC in November 2021 after going 1-4 in his last five promotional outings. 'The Motown Phenom' signed with Khabib Nurmagomedov's Eagle FC where he picked up a decision win over fellow UFC veteran Diego Sanchez. Lee's callout to Chimaev did not sit well with many fighters and fans.
