Former UFC fighter Matt Hamill, who squared off against current heavyweight king Jon Jones in 2009, is the first deaf fighter to compete in the UFC. Recently, Hamill shared with his fans that he now has the "most powerful digital hearing aids," that are helping him hear for the first time in 41 years.
Hamill's new post garnered the attention of a former UFC title challenger, who shared a one-word reaction to the same.
Hamill remains the only fighter, who has a win over Jones. The Ultimate Fighter 10 Finale in December 2009 saw 'Bones' suffering a controversial disqualification defeat for throwing illegal downward elbows.
Despite being born deaf, 'The Hammer' continued to pursue his goals and leave his mark. The 48-year-old has defeated Keith Jardine and Tito Ortiz among many others.

On New Year's Day, Hamill shared the good news with his followers on Instagram via a post that was captioned:
"I just got the most powerful digital hearing aids ever made. For the first time in 41 years, I can finally hear my kids’ voices, the sounds of people walking and laughing. I finally heard my mom’s voice and she cried. I’m looking forward to hearing my brother Pat’s voice too..."

Matt Hamill called out Jon Jones before UFC 309
Heavyweight champion Jon Jones and UFC CEO Dana White have been working hard to have his lone defeat against Matt Hamill reversed and for him to become undefeated.
Meanwhile, Hamill called White and Jones in an Instagram post in July 2024 and pitched the idea of a "rematch." He captioned the post:
"Let’s cut this chase… @danawhite - I know you’re desperate to get @jonnybones an undefeated record. I see how you want to profit from that! Is also why you bail him out of all the other things… How about a rematch?! I’ll be happy to fight him for a heavyweight title... I’ll take short notice, just remember he already lost to me!"
