Freddie Haggerty believes that if his big brother and reigning two-sport king Jonathan Haggerty beats Superlek, there will be no denying that 'The General' is the pound-for-pound best in the world.

After scoring an incredible third-round knockout against Felipe Lobo at ONE Fight Night 19, Haggerty will put his ONE bantamweight Muay Thai world championship on the line for the second time when he meets 'The Kicking Machine' in the ONE 168: Denver main event on Friday, September 6.

Emanating from Ball Arena in The Mile High City, Haggerty and Superlek will run back their 2018 clash in the UK that saw the Thai superstar secure a second-round TKO due to a doctor's stoppage.

Since then, a lot has changed and Jonathan Haggerty now reigns over two divisions, holding the ONE bantamweight Muay Thai and kickboxing world titles.

Speaking with the promotion, Freddie Haggerty is confident that if his brother hands Superlek his first loss in Muay Thai action under the ONE banner, he will without a doubt be the P4P best in the art of eight limbs.

“If he beats Superlek, he’s the pound-for-pound best,” the younger Haggerty said.

Superlek heads into Jonathan Haggerty redo in fine form

Superlek will ride into Denver, Colorado sitting on a 10-fight unbeaten streak in Muay Thai, including a noteworthy win over 'The Iron Man' Rodtang Jitmuangnon at ONE Friday Fights 34 last September.

Since then, 'The Kicking Machine' has added wins over Japanese kickboxing legend Takeru Segawa at ONE 165 in Tokyo and Thai prospect Kongthoranee Sor Sommai at ONE Friday Fights 68.

Thus far, Superlek's speed has proven to be the difference-maker in most of his bouts, leading to some concern that a move up from his post at the ONE flyweight kickboxing world champion to bantamweight could slow him down. However, Superlek does not believe that will be an issue come fight night.

"I don't think going up one weight class will slow me down," Superlek told Sportskeeda.
