Brazilian superstar Fabricio Andrade saw his first stab at the ONE bantamweight MMA world title against former divisional John Lineker derailed by a no-contest outcome. In the second instance, he made sure he got the job done to realize his dream of becoming a world champion.
The two first met in October 2022 for the vacant bantamweight belt after Lineker was stripped of it for missing weight in the lead-up. 'Wonder Boy' was dominating 'Hands of Stone' with his effective distance game. Unfortunately, he accidentally hit Lineker in the groin midway into the match, leaving him unable to continue and the match ruled a no contest.
In the do-over four months later, Andrade continued to be on top things but more precise with his hits to make sure a repeat of the first encounter did not happen.
He gave Lineker a nasty cut above his right eye in the fourth round that made it difficult for the veteran fighter to answer the bell for the fifth and final round to slump to the TKO loss.

Fabricio Andrade says he is highly motivated heading into ONE 170
ONE bantamweight MMA world champion Fabricio Andrade said he is highly motivated to defend his championship belt in his scheduled match against Kwon Won il on Jan. 24 at ONE 170. It also marks his return to action after over a year of layoff.
He shared this in an interview with ONE Championship, highlighting how retaining his standing as world champion and the time away from competition only stoked the fighter in him.
"I'm very excited. I really want to fight, and this desire is something very important for a fighter. Since I haven't fought for a long time, my motivation is through the roof."
Fabricio Andrade was last in action in November 2023, where he fell short in his push for the vacant bantamweight kickboxing world title, losing to then Muay Thai king Jonathan Haggerty by knockout in their all-champion clash.
