ONE Championship fans witnessed a clash for the ages between strawweight MMA stars Jarred Brooks and Joshua Pacio at ONE 164 in December 2022. The latter's ONE strawweight MMA world championship was on the line after successfully defending it on three occasions.
As for Brooks, the American star was on a three-fight winning streak of his own and was keen to claim his first-ever ONE world championship.
'The Monkey God' dethroned Pacio in front of his Filipino countrymen thanks to his vastly improved stand-up game coupled with his world-class wrestling prowess.

So great was their first encounter that a rematch was set for ONE 166 this past March.
However, Brooks inadvertently spiked Pacio on his head during a takedown attempt and it was ruled a disqualification victory in favor of the Filipino spitfire, which led to Pacio reclaiming the strawweight MMA crown.
Jarred Brooks wants first-round finish in interim strawweight MMA world title tilt
With Pacio still on the mend due to an ACL tear, ONE will crown an interim strawweight MMA world champion at ONE Fight Night 24 on August 2 between the top-ranked Brooks and third-ranked Gustavo Balart.
As they prepare to do battle over 26 pounds of ONE interim gold, the Mash Fight Team star is looking to claim his first-ever knockout in ONE at Balart's expense.
Jarred Brooks recently told ABS-CBN:
"I want it to be a first-round knockout, every fighter wants a first-round knockout. But Gustavo has proven again and again and again that in the second and third round, he gasses."
ONE Fight Night 24 will emanate from the historic Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand. The full card will air live and free to all Prime Video subscribers in the United States and Canada.
