It was no easy task for former ONE flyweight Muay Thai world champion 'The General' Jonathan Haggerty to make his debut in the promotion’s bantamweight Muay Thai ranks.
Although the English-born fighter walked away with a win over Vladimir Kuzmin, he went through a war at ONE on Prime Video 4 to earn it.

'The General' and Russia's Vladimir Kuzmin traded a series of thunderous kicks in the opening round, including teeps and leg strikes. Kuzmin controlled the center for most of the round.
In round two of this bantamweight Muay Thai showdown, the heavy leg strikes continued until Haggerty landed a head kick and attempted to pressure, but was thrown off. Kuzmin controlled the center of the ONE circle and was pushing Haggerty back with kicks and punches for most of the round until the English fighter was able to land combinations in the closing seconds.
In round three, Haggerty landed a series of booming kicks to the head and legs of his Russian opponent. The two traded elbows and high kicks against one another. Haggerty was able to land a strong elbow in the center, then Kuzmin continued to push the English fighter back.
In the closing seconds of the fight, the two traded head kicks. After this hard-fought war, Haggerty was awarded a majority decision win.
Jonathan Haggerty is ready for the ONE bantamweight Muay Thai division
After his impressive win over Vladamir Kuzmin, Jonathan Haggerty called out the top of the bantamweight Muay Thai division in ONE.
In his post-fight interview, he explained what he wants next:
“I told myself I’m going to come out here and start naming names, but I’ve been in this game a long time. I have been training for 16 years fighting the best fighters in the world and I’m ready for number one, number two, number three. Let’s go.”
The Englishman added:
"To be in this organization is a blessing. Thank you everyone for just, everything really. I am overwhelmed. I appreciate everyone for you coming out to support us athletes."
