ONE Championship fans might not have known it then, but Kade Ruotolo's defense of the ONE lightweight submission grappling world championship against Tommy Langaker at ONE Fight Night 11 in June 2023 was a matchup to remember. Fresh off a masterful performance against Matheus Gabriel in December 2022, Ruotolo was eager to keep the ball rolling against Langaker. However, the Norwegian great brought the fight to the 21-year-old.
Langaker scored the first catch of the bout with an early heel hook attempt. Ruotolo ultimately negated this effort with an Achilles lock in the final minutes of their world title tilt. The American star's undeniable effort and aggression led to the judges awarding him the win via unanimous decision.

Because of how close this world title fight was, Ruotolo and Langaker faced each other again over the 170-pound Muay Thai crown this past January at ONE 165, where the Atos star emerged victorious once again.
After submitting Francisco Lo this past April, Ruotolo made his long-anticipated MMA debut at ONE 167 on June 7 against Blake Cooper, whom the Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belter defeated by cinching in a rear-naked choke.
Kade Ruotolo set for second MMA fight at ONE 169
Kade Ruotolo will be gunning for his second MMA victory when he fights Pakistani standout Ahmed Mujtaba at ONE 169: Malykhin vs. 'Reug Reug' on Nov. 8 inside the Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand.
'Wolverine' made his ONE debut in November 2016 and owns two finishes in four victories. Arguably his most impressive performance to date was his 56-second knockout of Rahul Raju in 2021.
ONE 169 will air live and free to all Prime Video subscribers in the United States and Canada.
