After three long years of waiting, reigning ONE flyweight submission grappling world champion Mikey Musumeci has finally evened his head-to-head score with former tormentor Gabriel Sousa after submitting him in their bantamweight submission grappling match at ONE 167 on June 7.
Musumeci forced a tap out of Sousa with a punishing calf slicer technique inside the Impact Arena in Bangkok, Thailand. The full fight of this heated showdown was posted by ONE Championship on their YouTube channel, and they wrote the video's description with:
"Relive all the intense moments from the heated bantamweight submission grappling rematch between flyweight king Mikey Musumeci and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu standout Gabriel Sousa at ONE 167!"

'Darth Rigatoni' quickly went out of the gates with an aggressive approach, grabbing Sousa's leg and swiftly transitioning into the calf slicer submission attempt. But the Brazilian submission grappling star tried to counter with a toe hold of his own.
The threat of Sousa's submission attempt didn't even bother the flyweight submission grappling king, which is why he was forced to let go of the toe hold. Unfortunately, upon releasing the threat, Musumeci cranked his leg, ultimately leaving him with no choice but to tap.
Mikey Musumeci to challenge Kade Ruotolo next for the ONE lightweight submission grappling match at ONE 168: Denver
Following another incredible performance that earned him a $50,000 bonus from ONE Championship Chairman and CEO Chatri Sityodtong, Musumeci will now prepare for a champion-versus-champion clash with the undisputed ONE lightweight submission grappling world champion Kade Ruotolo on September 6 at ONE 168: Denver at Ball Arena in Colorado.
The 27-year-old American will move two weight divisions higher in an attempt to become ONE Championship's first two-division submission grappling world champion. Furthermore, a win for Musumeci over Ruotolo would prove that he's the best pound-for-pound submission grappler in the world today.
