ONE flyweight submission grappling world champion Mikey Musumeci faced a unique challenge when he defended his 26 pounds of gold against then-ONE strawweight MMA world champion Jarred Brooks in August 2023.
'The Monkey God' went right after Musumeci in the early goings but soon found himself in deep trouble when 'Darth Rigatoni' scored the first catch of the bout.
Despite a hearty effort by Brooks, Musumeci eventually submitted him with a gnarly triangle armbar late in the bout.

After this outing, Musumeci added submission wins over former ONE lightweight MMA world champion Shinya Aoki and rival Gabriel Sousa to stay undefeated through seven bouts under the ONE banner.
The Cobrinha BJJ and Evolve MMA product's next foray inside the circle will see him challenge Kade Ruotolo for the ONE lightweight submission grappling world championship at ONE 168: Denver on September 6 inside the Ball Arena.
