After almost clearing out the lightweight kickboxing division, Regian Eersel was given the opportunity to become a two-sport world champion by ONE Championship, as he was pitted against Sinsamut Klinmee in October 2022 at ONE on Prime Video 3.
Eersel and Sinsamut co-headlined the loaded card and went toe-to-toe inside the Axiata Arena in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, for the inaugural ONE lightweight Muay Thai world title. The full fight replay of this world title clash was posted by the promotion on YouTube, with the video description:
"A back-and-forth striking war ensued when lightweight kickboxing king Regian Eersel squared off with Thai sensation ONE Lightweight Muay Thai Title in the co-main event of ONE on Prime Video 3 - proudly presented by @TumiTravel!"

'The Immortal' jumped into an early lead in the match as he took advantage of the slow start and low-volume output of the Thai star to land clean shots and combinations.
Sinsamut retaliated in rounds three and four to close the gap on the judges' scorecards and add excitement to the fight. But, the Surinamese striking sensation made sure to end the match decisively as he punctuated the match with a solid last round to sway the judges in giving him the close split decision victory.
Regian Eersel says that he has refined his strategy heading into the rematch against Alexis Nicolas at ONE Fight Night 25
Eersel suffered his first ONE Championship defeat at the hands of Alexis Nicolas in April 2024 at ONE Fight Night 21, where he received a unanimous decision loss.
But the world's largest martial arts organization gave him an immediate rematch against his French tormentor. Ahead of that match, he said that he had tweaked his plan but would still use the same fighting style.
The Sityodtong Amsterdam shared this during a recent interview with the MMA UK YouTube channel:
"The strategy will be different, but my fighting goal is still the same: aggressive and going forward. And yeah, just fight toe to toe, like I always do."
ONE Fight Night 25 will air live and free to all Prime Video subscribers in North America on Oct. 4 during U.S. primetime.
