Jonathan Haggerty is currently dominating the bantamweight division in ONE Championship, but before doing so, he teared it up in the flyweight lane. Among the memorable fights he had in the 135kg class was against Thai legend Sam-A Gaiyanghadao for the flyweight Muay Thai belt.

'The General' took on Sam-A at ONE: For Honor on May 3, 2019 in Jakarta, Indonesia. It was only the British striker's second outing in ONE after making his promotional debut two months earlier. He made it an eventful one as he went on to seize the flyweight gold with a unanimous decision victory in a barnburner of a contest.

ONE Championship uploaded a video of the epic title clash on Aug. 7 for fight fans to relive ahead of Haggerty's scheduled defense of the ONE bantamweight Muay Thai world title at ONE 168: Denver on Sept. 6.

Against Sam-A, Jonathan Haggerty was considered the underdog but more than showed that he could hold his own against the legends in the game with his solid skills set.

He pressed on the veteran Thai fighter with a lot of effectiveness, even dropping Sam-A twice, on his way to the convicing victory and claiming the flyweight championship belt.

Jonathan Haggerty seeks to make it back-to-back successful defenses of the bantamweight gold at ONE 168

Jonathan Haggerty is out to continue marking his dominance in the bantamweight lane when he defends the Muay Thai gold at ONE 168 in Denver, Colorado, U.S.A., on Sept. 6. He is going up against flyweight kickboxing king Superlek Kiatmoo9 in an all-champion clash.

The 27-year-old Orpington, England, native retained the world title he won in April 2023 in his last fight back in February by beating Brazilian challenger Felipe Lobo by TKO in the third round.

The Haggetry-Superlek title clash is the headlining contest at ONE 168: Denver, which will be played at the Ball Arena, home of the NBA's Denver Nuggets. It will be available live and for free in U.S. primetime to North American fans with an active Amazon Prime Video subscription.
