At ONE Fight Night 8 on Prime Video, former ONE strawweight kickboxing world title challenger Zhang Peimian returned to the circle for his fourth fight under the ONE Championship banner.
Taking on the debuting Russian Torepchi Dongak, Zhang produced a performance that reminded his fans and fellow competitors exactly what he is capable of.
After losing his last fight to Jonathan Di Bella in a razer-close decision, this was exactly the kind of outing that he needed to prove that he isn’t going anywhere. Once the final bell at the Singapore Indoor Stadium went, the 19-year-old got his hand raised with a unanimous decision victory.
Whilst Dongak did his best to trade blows with ‘Fighting Rooster’, the speed and ferocity of the Chinese prodigy was too much for his Russian opponent. Following his win, Zhang Peimian was awarded a $50,000 performance bonus from ONE CEO Chatri Sityodtong, capping off a great return for him.

What Zhang Peimian learned from world title match defeat to Jonathan Di Bella
At ONE 162 in October last year, Zhang Peimian suffered his first defeat inside the ircle.c
Losing a unanimous decision to Canadian-Italian Jonathan Di Bella that came right down to the final moments of the contest, Peimian was in touching distance of the vacant ONE strawweight kickboxing world championship.
At ONE Fight Night 8 on Prime Video, Zhang returned to the circle with a win, securing a unanimous decision over ONE Championship debutant Torepchi Dongak.
Five months on from his loss to Di Bella, Zhang spoke after ONE Fight Night 8 about what he learned most from his narrow defeat to the current world champion:
“In the next fight, I'm going to be calmer, and I will fight until the end,” Permian said in a post-fight interview. “Because last time I thought I won and was losing in the last two rounds. So this time, I learned from that, so I will fight until the end.”
With a great performance on his return, Peimian had one thing on his mind right after having his hand raised. Targeting a rematch with Di Bella, Zhang is waiting for the opportunity:
“This could be in the middle of this year or at the end of the year. I am ready.”
