'Pretty Boy' effectively mixed up his attack in the first two rounds, which was heavy on punches and grappling. Kwon's best moment was the vicious ground-and-pound strikes he unleashed against Chen that almost finished the match.
Then, in the third round, the current number three-ranked bantamweight MMA contender landed a body shot on Chen and doubled down on it by repeatedly attacking the side of it until he folded, prompting the referee to call a halt to the bout.
Kwon Won Il to challenge Fabricio Andrade for the bantamweight MMA crown at ONE 170
More than two years after losing to now-reigning ONE bantamweight MMA world champion Fabricio Andrade during their first meeting in June 2022 at ONE 158, the Extreme Combat and P-Boy MMA representative is now ready to challenge him again in a world championship rematch.
Kwon and Andrade are scheduled to face each other in a second meeting on Jan. 24 at ONE 170 in front of the Impact Arena crowd in Bangkok, Thailand. Kwon will carry a lot of momentum from his three-fight win streak, where he finished all his opponents via TKO, defeating the likes of Mark Abelardo, Artem Belakh, and Shinechagtga Zoltsetseg.
