Danielle Kelly is out for redemption when she starts her 2025 campaign.

The former ONE atomweight submission grappling world champion revealed on Instagram that she dealt with massive negativity following her loss to Mayssa Bastos at ONE Fight Night 26 in December.

Kelly wrote that reading social media comments on her defeat to Bastos harmed her psyche. Nevertheless, she's ready to bounce back and claim the throne she originally ruled over.

Danielle Kelly posted:

"I was a bit hard on myself the last couple of months reading some comments on how I’m not that good of a grappler 😂 with that said hopefully in the spring or towards summer time I’d like to have a match against someone in the top 10 or fighters."

The Philadelphia native added that she plans to reclaim the ONE atomweight submission grappling world title before the year ends and remind the world why she deserves her spot at the top of the Brazilian jiu-jitsu landscape.

"My goal is still to get the belt back end of the year& tons of people want to watch me compete. And this year is full of new chapters🌟🌟"

Kelly became the inaugural ONE atomweight submission grappling world champion when she outclassed former foe Jessa Khan at ONE Fight Night 14 in Singapore.

Her first defense of the throne, however, ended in disappointment when she relinquished the strap to Bastos in a close affair at ONE Fight Night 24 in August 2024.

Bastos then retained the atomweight submission grappling strap in her rematch against Kelly four months later.

Mayssa Bastos says Danielle Kelly has to work her way back up to world title picture

Mayssa Bastos isn't keen on fighting Danielle Kelly for an immediate trilogy.

The reigning atomweight submission grappling queen said in the ONE Fight Night 26 post-fight interviews that the American superstar has to work her way back up to world title contention.

Bastos, a nine-time IBJJF world champion, added that she would like to defend her throne against other opponents.

"I don't know. But I would like to fight other people first, then I think she needs to fight and climb back again to deserve to try for the belt."
