Russian chess grandmaster Garry Kasparov is convinced Joe Rogan is not the neutral centrist many believe him to be after the podcaster refused to host Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelenskyy on his popular podcast.
Rogan landed himself in a whirlwind of controversy after he went ballistic on Ukraine during a recent episode of the JRE, inviting pushback from former unified boxing heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko.
While the 57-year-old condemned the Russian invasion of the former Soviet republic, he was highly critical of Ukraine launching U.S.-made missiles on their aggressors. Talking to music producer Scott Storch on episode #2233 of JRE, Rogan slammed Zelenskyy, saying:
"Zelenskyy says [Vladimir] Putin is terrified. F**k you man, f**k you people, you f*****g people are about to start World War 3... It's a proxy war. The whole thing is f*****g insane. Come to the negotiation table, sit down, work this out."

In a later podcast episode, the UFC commentator revealed that the Ukraine president offered to come on the show following his criticism, but he declined to host him.
Kasparov, a known critic of Putin, interpreted Rogan's reluctance to host Zelenskyy as a clear bias on his part. In a recent post on X, the former world chess champion slammed narratives labeling Rogan as a messiah of neutrality, writing:
"Rogan is under no obligation to host Zelenskyy, Klitschko, or anyone else. But after viciously attacking Ukraine with BS talking points, his agenda is clear if he doesn't allow for equal time. I'll also offer my services if a chess champion isn't too threatening for him!"

Fans picked their sides in the comment section, with some choosing to side with Kasparov and others slamming Zelenskyy for his actions.
U.S. Air Force veteran Jake Broe belonged to the former group:
"Joe Rogan is just a joke. He's too scared to talk to free men who are fighting to remain free. He'd rather only interview grifters who advocate for genocide and autocracy."
Another follower, @Seth_Carl8 defended Rogan:
"Imagine being the president of a nation at war and wanting to go on a foreign podcast."

When Wladimir Klitschko offered to discuss the Russia-Ukraine war with Joe Rogan
Ever since the conflict started, former unified heavyweight boxing champion Wladimir Klitschko has used his fame to raise support and funding for the Ukrainian war effort. So naturally, he was not too happy with Joe Rogan taking an issue with American aid in the conflict.
Following the podcaster's rant about the ongoing war, Klitschko took to X to explain why he disapproved of Rogan's take while offering to feature on the podcast to discuss the issue in detail:
"Putin's Russia wants to destroy Ukraine quietly. They want America to stay quiet. Not great, but quiet. A great America is not an America that abandons countries that defend freedom with their lives with their lives. In short, you see I have quite a few points of difference. If you invite me on your podcast, we could discuss them like free men."
