Georges St-Pierre recently weighed in on the UFC 304 main event between Leon Edwards and Belal Muhammad. He heaped praise on the reigning welterweight champion as he analyzed areas in which he has noticed the most improvement.
'Rocky' makes his third title defense in tonight's main event and will have an opportunity to earn a definitive win over 'Remember The Name' as their 2021 encounter ended in a no-contest. Both fighters have since put together impressive unbeaten streaks, so they will be competing at their best in tonight's welterweight title clash.
While speaking to Covers, the UFC Hall of Famer heaped praise on the Englishman for showcasing his improvement as a well-rounded fighter. St-Pierre mentioned that the main event is a difficult fight to predict, but noted that Edwards has a lot more momentum. He said:
"I think it's gonna be a good fight. You know, it's hard to tell because...we haven't seen them fight [each other] for a long time, so it depends how much they have improved since their last fight. If I look at the momentum and the rate of improvement, I know for a fact that Leon Edwards is just incredible. The way he improved, it looks like his game has no weaknesses. He's good everywhere." Georges St-Pierre outlines game plan Belal Muhammad should adopt to defeat Leon Edwards
Georges St-Pierre outlined what he believes Belal Muhammad needs to consider adopting if he wants to dethrone Leon Edwards in tonight's welterweight title main event.
During the aforementioned interview, St-Pierre mentioned that Muhammad needs to push the pace against Edwards and look for openings to secure takedowns away from the fence. He said:
"If I'm [Belal] Muhammad, [the game plan] would be to push with a forward pressure. Make sure I make Leon Edwards fight on his heel, you know, going back as much as possible. And Leon Edwards seems to me like he's very good at using wrestling against the fence so maybe if I'm Muhammad, it's trying to mix it up with striking and also to take him down but in the open."
