Nico Carrillo has wrapped up his training camp for the biggest fight of his career at ONE 170 on Jan. 24.
The Scottish sensation is set to battle fellow rising star Nabil Anane for the ONE interim bantamweight Muay Thai world championship in front of a sold-out crowd at Bangkok’s Impact Arena.
Carrillo’s trainer, JP Gallacher, didn’t hold back in his praise, declaring through an Instagram story that this has been the best camp his prized pupil has ever had:
“The best camp to date. Get ready for a masterpiece next Friday.”

And given Carrillo’s meteoric ascent, such high-level preparation is essential.
Undefeated in ONE Championship, Carrillo has delivered four stunning knockouts, including back-to-back finishes of Nong-O Hama and Saemapetch Fairtex.
Now, the 26-year-old looks to reward himself by taking home 26 pounds of gold and a share of the seat atop the weight class alongside reigning king Superlek Kiatmoo9.
Nico Carrillo squares off with a towering opponent
Known for his devastating power and killer instinct, Nico Carrillo faces a formidable challenge in the rangy, clinch-savvy Nabil Anane.
Anane, just 19 years old, has also risen rapidly within the ranks of the world’s largest martial arts organization.
After falling short in his promotional debut against two-sport ONE world champion Superlek Kiatmoo9, the Thai-Algerian phenom rebounded with five straight victories, including dominant performances over Felipe Lobo and Soe Lin Oo.
These wins earned the 6-foot-4 striker the No. 5 spot in the bantamweight Muay Thai rankings.
The stakes couldn’t be higher for this bout, as the winner will face Superlek in a unification match for the undisputed World Title at ONE 172 on March 23.
The event is slated to take place at the iconic Super Saitama Arena in Japan, with a five-round flyweight kickboxing super-fight between Rodtang Jitmuangnon and Takeru Segawa headlining the affair.
