The GFL recently announced the dates for their inaugural Virtual Draft and features a former UFC commentator. The new MMA promotion appears to be gearing up for what they hope is a successful first year and change the way fans consume the sport.
The promotion has signed many notable fighters including UFC Hall of Famers, who will be joining their draft pool and will be eligible to compete should they be selected. In addition, they have also signed notable coaches and legends to serve as team managers.
The new promotion's sports league format is a risky one, especially considering the PFL most recently changed their format because their regular season and playoff format basically ran its course.

The promotion posted a photo to their Instagram account announcing that their upcoming Virtual Draft is scheduled to take place on Jan. 24 at 8pm ET and will be streaming live on their social media platforms. GFL have a panel of notable names which includes former UFC commentator Mike Goldberg:

GFL announces signing of former UFC title challenger
In addition to announcing the date and who will be working their inaugural Virtual Draft, the GFL announced that they have signed a former UFC title challenger to their draft pool.
There are several former UFC and Bellator champions and title challengers on the roster and the promotion continues to add more with their latest high-profile signing Yoel Romero. 'The Soldier of God's latest MMA bout took place last February at PFL vs. Bellator, where he earned a unanimous decision win over Thiago Santos.
Despite competing in one MMA bout in 2024, Romero remained active as he competed at the first Dirty Boxing event, where he earned a first-round knockout over Duane Crespo.
