Gilbert Burns seems intent on facing fellow welterweight contender Jorge Masvidal. After it was reported earlier this year that the two fighters were keen to make this happen, it appears that 'Durinho' will indeed fight Masvidal at UFC 283 in Brazil.

Burns recently shared a humourous still image from the popular Netflix show Narcos, with Pablo Escobar standing in an empty swimming pool staring into the distance. He captioned the image "Jorge???", implying his impatience about getting the contract signed.

'Durinho' last fought in April earlier this year, suffering a loss to Khamzat Chimaev via unanimous decision in a fight that won both fighters the fight of the night bonus. Masvidal is currently on a three-loss slide, losing to Colby Covington previously and twice consecutively to then-welterweight champion Kamaru Usman before that. With both fighters coming off losses, they will be looking to redeem themselves in their next outing in the octagon.

Jorge Masvidal is yet to respond to this amusing poke, and it remains to be seen whether the UFC will make an official announcement on the status of this welterweight matchup. With both fighters seemingly eager to make it happen, everything points towards them facing each other in the octagon soon.

Top welterweight calls out Gilbert Burns as 'Durinho' continues chasing Jorge Masvidal fight

Welterweight contender Neil Magny has expressed his desire to face the Brazilian in his post-fight interview. Coming off a third-round submission win against Daniel Rodriguez at the recent UFC Vegas 64 event, Magny took to the mic to call out 'Durinho' saying:

"Gilbert Burns, let's do it in Brazil. It's January 21, right around the corner. Let's just bring to the top five, let's go!"

Later, at a post-fight press conference, Magny reiterated his wish to fight the Brazilian, calling him "one of the toughest" and "the best grappler in the division." When asked about how he saw the fight against Burns going, Magny stated:

"I could see it going either way."

'The Haitian Sensation' even got a response from 'Durinho', who congratulated him on the win and praised him for getting the finish. He also stated that the UFC already has an opponent planned for him, but if his opponent does not show up, he would be interested in fighting Magny in Brazil. While it is yet to be made official, Burns is all set to fight Jorge Masvidal in Brazil, and it remains to be seen if Magny gets his shot at 'Durinho' soon or not.
