Reece McLaren might have just secured himself a shot for the vacant ONE flyweight MMA world title when he defeated the reigning ONE interim strawweight MMA world champion Jarred Brooks in their showdown at ONE Fight Night 26 last Dec. 6.
The number four-ranked flyweight MMA contender scored a split decision nod from the judges inside the Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand. Following his victory over Brooks, McLaren shared his thoughts backstage and the promotion published it on Instagram recently with the caption:
"Big fight energy 🌟 Do you want to see Reece McLaren vs Adriano Moraes in 2025? @reecelightning91"

In the video, 'Lightning' stated he wanted to face the former flyweight MMA king, Adriano Moraes, for the 26-pound golden belt. McLaren also claimed he felt like he was the uncrowned king of the weight class.
Fans have agreed to this sentiment by the 33-year-old veteran, as users @rofie_tribe, @samilocke, @mizuho_matsuyama, @jesseyada, and @milesmuecke echoed this statement with their comments:
"Give the man his shot! 🔥🔥🔥🔥 @reecelightning91"
"He's earned his shot at the belt! We wanna see it happen @onechampionship 😤🔥"
"@reecelightning91 come the gold for 2025"
"No one deserves it more. Make it happen @onechampionship"
"There's no other match up than @reecelightning91 for the title. Even the straw weight champ says it. Even Mighty Mouse says it. Cmon there's no question here"

Reece McLaren's coach reveals that he suffered an injury during fight camp against Jarred Brooks
The CMBT Training Centre representative's performance against 'The Monkey God' was even more stunning after one of his coaches, Miles Muecke, revealed that McLaren suffered an injury during this fight camp.
Muecke commented on one of the promotion's social media posts, and wrote:
"I'll say it because he won't - @reecelightning91 accepted this fight with 4 weeks and his hand was in a cast for 3 of those because he had a broken thumb. Still accepted against a world champ without hesitation. A lot to work around in a camp against world class wrestler. Still got it done. Give him notice for the title shot @onechampionship let's line this up already! 🔥🔥🔥"
